Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 945 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and experienced World History teacher to join our expert faculty. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of Seventh Grade history, serving as a student advisor, leading a community service group, and chaperoning class trips, among other duties.

Required Qualifications:
- B.A. in History or a closely related discipline, M.A. strongly preferred
- Personal and/or professional experience and extensive knowledge of contemporary global issues, gained through living in, working in, or studying countries and cultures outside of the United States
- Significant Middle-school classroom experience
- Understanding and commitment to the tenets of progressive education
- Demonstrated record of developing one’s own cultural competency and incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in practices and curriculum
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, creativity, sense of humor, and emotional maturity
- Knowledge of developmental issues and stages common in Middle School students
- An affinity for and ability to communicate with early adolescents
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues on a team
- Demonstrated use of research-based pedagogical methods in the classroom
- Ability to differentiate instruction to include all learners
- Experience in communicating with parents
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in history and progressive education
- Interest and experience in developing and creating history curriculum, particularly World History curriculum
- Familiarity with innovative uses of technology in the service of educational growth
