Mars Hill University is a private, four-year liberal arts institution located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Founded in 1856 by Baptist families of the region, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in western North Carolina on its original site.

Summary: The Mars Hill University Psychology Program is seeking applications for a 1-year Instructor in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, further specialization open, to begin August '23. MHU is a small liberal arts institution in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC. Our program attracts students with diverse interests, but particularly art therapy, sport psychology, and business/management. Our faculty are highly collegial and collaborative; we love working together and with our students.
Essential Responsibilities: This position is a one-year appointment at the undergraduate level. The teaching load is 5/5 with approximately one course per semester taught in an online format, and multiple sections where possible.
Ideally, it will include courses in Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Psychotherapy Approaches, and a course in the candidate’s area of specialization. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to working with a socially and economically diverse student population.
Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Psychology or a closely related field including 18+ credit hours in graduate-level psychology courses is required for the position before the start date in August 2023. Those with a PhD will be given preference. It is expected that the person selected will be a part of our lively community and teach in-person at the university.
