The future is here! Davidson-Davie Community College is looking for an IT professional to fill the role of Network Administrator. The primary duties of the network administrator are to ensure the college’s network infrastructure is operating optimally and securely. This position is responsible for but not limited to:
The network administrator should have a clear understanding of TCP/IP protocols and services as well as both wired and wireless standards. The ideal candidate will understand how to configure, monitor and maintain network equipment and peripheral connectivity. The network administrator must understand and adhere to industry standard security procedures at all times. The network administrator will see projects to completion through collaboration with co-workers, consultants, and support contracts. The network administrator should be able to communicate with users with various levels of knowledge. | |
WHAT YOU'LL DO ON A TYPICAL DAY: | |

The network administrator will administer a number of systems and on a daily basis perform tasks to support campus connectivity through those systems. The following task are performed on a typical day:

Required:
Clear understanding of the College's mission
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/training/experience
2 years of experience in an enterprise IT environment supporting
Layer 2/Layer 3 switching
Virtual private network administration
Firewall administration
Understanding of network protocols
Understanding of security standards
Understanding of IP telephony
Understanding of backup and recovery processes and procedures
Understanding of network equipment and cabling standards/limits/requirements
Preferred:
3-5 years of experience in an IT environment
Industry certification (CompTIA/Cisco/Microsoft)
