De La Salle Academy is a private, independent, non-sectarian middle school located in Manhattan. The school’s student body includes students from across New York City. De La Salle is the only private, coeducational, independent school in New York City for academically talented, economically less advantaged students in grades six through eight. Position:
De La Salle Academy seeks a full-time Spanish teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. Potential candidates should be aligned with the school’s commitment to develop each child’s mind, body, heart and spirit both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Teach multiple sections and levels of Spanish.
- Facilitate advisory and homeroom periods.
- Offer elective courses (inside or outside the department).
- Participate in faculty, grade-level and department meetings.
Salary Range and Benefits:
- A salary range of $55,000-$70,000, based on experience.
- Medical, dental and vision benefits.
- School contribution to 410B Plan (after 2 years of service).

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education or related field is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse student and family populations.
- Commitment to engaging with diversity, equity, inclusion and justice work.
- Experience with (or willingness to learn) Comprehension-based Communicative Language Teaching.
- Teaching experience in middle school is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to differentiate instruction.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (ex: CANVAS or Google Classroom) is preferred.
- Attentiveness to the social-emotional needs of young adolescent students.
- Willingness and desire to mentor students.
- A passion for curriculum design, innovation and ongoing professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators.
