POSITION OVERVIEW
The Social Science Teacher is a full-time teacher and member of the Social Science Department, reporting to the Division Head and Instructional Leader. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of the discipline within a larger context of school mission, core values, and educational philosophy. Primary responsibilities include teaching 5 Social Science classes per year (12.5 classroom hours per week), serving as a Student Advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide differentiation and intervention when necessary and appropriate.
- Monitor progress of each student for mastery of course standards.
- Provide consistent high quality feedback to students that is consistent with articulated course standards.
- Design high quality, student centered lessons that are well-sequenced in terms of content and developmental appropriateness.
- Create a safe and welcoming learning environment.
- Engage students outside of the classroom through office hours, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-wide programming.
- Pursue ongoing professional development.
- Maintain clear and ongoing professional communication with parents and students.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field required, masters degree preferred.
- Previous teaching experience required.
SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $130,000
