Rye Country Day School is seeking an Upper School Humanities Teacher beginning in August 2023. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, PreK-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Teach four Upper School sections of Humanities
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop a dynamic curriculum that fosters a love of history and the humanities, and builds students’ writing and analytical skills
- Develop daily lessons that produce a high-level of student engagement in a student-centered environment
- Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work
- Regularly write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in History (or Humanities related field) required; Master’s degree or higher preferred
- 3-5 years of experience teaching Humanities at the Upper School level
- Expertise for United States History and World/Global History; ability to teach additional social science topics a plus
- Excitement for working with Upper School students
- Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
- Facility with laptop technology
- Ability to support the extra-curricular life of the school
