Rye Country Day School is seeking an Upper School Humanities Teacher beginning in August 2023. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, PreK-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:

• Teach four Upper School sections of Humanities
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop a dynamic curriculum that fosters a love of history and the humanities, and builds students’ writing and analytical skills
• Develop daily lessons that produce a high-level of student engagement in a student-centered environment
• Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work
• Regularly write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences
• Participate in faculty and departmental meetings

Desired qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History (or Humanities related field) required; Master’s degree or higher preferred
• 3-5 years of experience teaching Humanities at the Upper School level
• Expertise for United States History and World/Global History; ability to teach additional social science topics a plus
• Excitement for working with Upper School students
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
• Facility with laptop technology
• Ability to support the extra-curricular life of the school
