Job Description:
Maybeck High School, a small, independent, teacher-run, college-preparatory high school in Berkeley, seeks a Director of Technology for the 2023-2024 academic year. The position can range from 60% to full-time, depending on candidate interest and fit for the role. The Director of Technology will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology systems and data management that support the school's academic and administrative functions.
Director Responsibilities include:
- Oversee and coordinate data management systems for student, family, staff, faculty, and fundraising data.
- Collaborate with administration to develop strategies for data collection and analysis.
- Provide tech support to faculty and students, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and training staff and students on new tools and software
- Manage tech equipment inventory and oversee the purchasing, deployment, and maintenance of all tech equipment.
- Manage social media accounts and develop social media strategies that promote school events and achievements, and engage with the school community.
- Collaborate with student leaders to development of annual yearbook.
- Provide tech support for occasional evening and weekend events at Maybeck.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- If full-time, the Director or Technology will also teach 2 sections of electives each semester. Electives could include Coding, Graphic Design, Digital Media Arts, or another arts and technology related class. Each class meets three times weekly from late August through May. We support teachers to teach classes in their discipline that align with their passion and expertise.
Additional responsibilities of full-time Maybeck employees include:
- Work with another staff member to design & run a 10-day intersession course in April; some programs are local and during school hours; others travel regionally and internationally.
- Attend our all-school camping trips: a 4-night cabin camping trip in August and a 2-3 night tent camping trip in May
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, and other school events

Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree
- Relevant experience and/or knowledge of various data management/collection approaches.
- Relevant experience and/or knowledge of typical technology support needed in school environments (laptops, printers, audio/visual equipment, attendance/grading software, other education technology)
- Ability to collaborate on teams, desire to participate in a teacher-led school.
- Ability to engage and build rapport with students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels and a commitment to serving students equitably.
- Willingness to collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student learning and growth.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
