Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of close to 1000 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city, admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement and community.
The Berkeley Carroll School seeks an experienced history teacher, preferably with an advanced degree, to join our highly collaborative history department. The candidate should have the capacity to teach our junior-year interdisciplinary American Studies course, in addition to 10th and 12th grade electives in world history and U.S. history or a 9th grade Modern World History section. All courses in the History Department emphasize inquiry, critical analysis of sources, evidence-based argumentation, research and writing, and the inclusion of underrepresented voices from the historical record.
The ideal candidate will have strong content knowledge, a proven interest in curriculum design and creation, and a love of teaching high school students. The candidate will have a strong commitment to embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into their teaching pedagogy. They will also have an interest in being active members of our school community, including involvement in student life as a grade advisor, leader of a student club, advisor to a publication, and/or the coach of a team.

Salary and benefits are highly competitive and will be offered commensurate with experience and credentials. The salary range for this position is 80k-105k.
