Position Description and Requirements
Community School of Naples, an independent, college preparatory school, is currently seeking a Middle School history teacher. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in history, a social science field, or education with an emphasis in history or related field. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of teaching history at the middle school level and will demonstrate a passion and expertise in the teaching of history—specifically, the ability to provide an engaging and challenging classroom that encourages students to lean into academic excellence. A background in teaching geography and ancient civilizations is a plus, as is the ability to integrate technology into instructional practice and lesson design. This full-time position requires teaching five classes a day, with an average class size of 14-16 students. The MS history teacher will be a part of a grade team and lead an advisory of 12-14 students.
CSN is one of the top independent, non-sectarian day schools in Florida and maintains a PK-12 school enrollment of approximately 980 students. CSN students are consistently top ranked when compared to all other Southwest Florida high schools when it comes to test scores, extracurricular activities, and college acceptances. The school’s educational program includes a comprehensive curriculum, a gifted faculty and a low student-faculty ratio. These elements ensure that each student experiences a challenging education that only an independent, college preparatory school can provide. CSN is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
Compensation and Benefits
The appointment is for the 2023/2024 academic year starting with orientation of August 7, 2023. This full-time instructional position is paid on an annual salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications. All employees are eligible to participate in CSN’s generous 403(b) retirement program as well as Aflac, Legal Shield, pet insurance and Teledoc offerings.
