Holton-Arms School invites applications for the position of Upper School History Teacher. We are seeking an educator who wishes to teach Art History and History from a multiracial and global perspective and has a commitment to anti-racist/anti bias education. Applicants should be willing and able to facilitate challenging conversations in the classroom and have experience developing curriculum that reflects the students on campus, as well as the world around us. They will collaborate on the ongoing revision and renewal of the History and Social Sciences curriculum that is aimed at telling a more expansive story of humanity. In addition to the primary teaching responsibilities in Upper School, candidates will participate in other facets of the Upper School program, including advisory, clubs, and other division-specific experiences. A successful candidate will be prepared to commit to and promote the School’s Mission and the institutional priorities embodied in the School’s philosophy of Learn Well, Live Well, Lead Well, and the Diversity Mission Statement. We welcome candidates who also have an interest in athletic coaching.
The qualifications of a successful candidate for this position are:
- 3 years of teaching experience
- a Bachelor's degree in History (Master's degree preferred in either History, Art History or Secondary Education)
- a passion for working with upper school students
- a commitment to creating a student-centered, standards-based classroom
- agility with the integration of educational technology into the curriculum
- an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues
- intellectual curiosity, sense of humor, and strong communication skills
- a commitment to lifelong learning
