Departmental Overview
The College of Environmental Design (CED) operates three academic departments - Architecture, City and Regional Planning, and Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning - conferring both undergraduate and graduate degrees. CED has 55 full-time and 45 part-time teaching faculty, 50 career staff, and over 1,200 students. The operations of the College are financed with state funds, gifts and endowments and other revenue sources.

Responsibilities
This is a 43% part-time temporary position
The College of Environmental Design (CED) is seeking an experienced applications programmer to design, develop, modify, test, evaluate, and maintain college transactional and data applications. Duties will include test-to-production processes, quality assurance, maintenance, and documentation of developed applications.
The programmer will apply acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. They will be expected to exercise judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. Responsibilities include maintaining an existing Access front-end to SQL back-end database application that supports multi-user data entry; migrating this application from Access to a modern, web-based platform; developing conversion and system implementation plans; and gathering and analyzing data to prepare system and programming documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Requires basic knowledge of applications programming.
- Must have knowledge relating to the design and development of application programs.
- Must have SQL experience
- Must have Access experience or a willingness to ramp up quickly
- Must be familiar with web applications, industry-standard web programming languages, and object oriented programming concepts.
- PHP and mobile applets programming experience would be a plus
- Requires knowledge of other related areas of IT.
- Knowledge of department processes and procedures.
- Requires skills associated with programming design, modification, and implementation.
- Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
- Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Must be self-motivated, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

- The hourly salary range designated for this position: $30.00 - $35.00; however, starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
