Job Description
Ashley Hall seeks a full-time History teacher for grades 9-12 to begin August 2023. The candidate will teach 11th Grade AP US History, 11th Grade Honors US History with a focus on Charleston as the classroom; and a 12th grade Project-based history elective topic.

Major Responsibilities

- Teaching history with a thematic, inquiry-based, and project-based approach.
- Developing engaging lesson plans designed to honor and foster multiple perspectives.
- Ensuring creativity and high quality of teaching and learning.
- Fostering a caring atmosphere and showing commitment to the well-being and social and academic progress of each student.
- Sharing responsibilities for curriculum development, and other departmental and divisional priorities, including trips (national and international).
- Ensuring students are excellently prepared for the AP exam.
Key Requirements
- Master's degree with a major or concentration in History.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience working with upper grades students; specifically those in grades 9-12.
- Trained in and/or experience with student-centered and experiential instruction.
- Flexibility and willingness to teach across time periods and disciplines.
- Inter-cultural awareness with well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and contribute to a joyfully inclusive community.
- Curriculum development knowledge.
- Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- An ability to build authentic relationships with colleagues and students.
- Demonstrates a record of collaborative teaching and teaming.
- Has a committed practice of professional reflection, inquiry, iteration, and innovation.
- Actively seeks purposeful growth in themselves and in others.
- Reliably meets expectations and deadlines.
