The Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy has an opening for a lecturer during the 2023- 24 academic year for a special topics course on urban planning. Topics covered may include the planning history of Southern California, historical preservation, land use law, coastal planning, and climate adaptation planning. We expect the course to be taught during the 2023-24 academic year.
Required: B.A. or B.S. in a field appropriate to the course (including, but not limited to, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Public Policy). At least 3 years of professional working experience in the fields of urban planning, public policy, law, and/or community engagement (as applicable).
Desired: An M.A. or M.S. in a field appropriate to the course (e.g., Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Public Policy, or - in the case of the law course - a J.D.). Experience teaching practice-oriented planning courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and participation in professional planning organizations is a plus.

A separate statement (500 words) that addresses past and/or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion within higher education, the community, and/or the planning profession should also be included in the application materials.
