Job Description:
Catherine Cook School is looking for an experienced, innovative Senior Kindergarten teacher who will be a part of a highly collaborative, three-teacher grade level team within the Early Childhood Division. The ideal candidate will exude joy for teaching Senior Kindergarten and a deep commitment to Catherine Cook’s mission and philosophy.
Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of early childhood development and current research-based practices
- Strong focus on the whole child with a social-emotional, anti-bias, and identity-based lens
- Ability to execute comprehensive, science-aligned literacy practices including phonics instruction and interactive read aloud
- Aptness for fostering a reading and writing identity in kindergarteners
- Experience teaching foundational math skills through hands-on, problem-based, collaborative curriculum
- An inquiry stance towards teaching and learning with a strong belief in authentic student voice & choice
- Willingness to build partnerships with families and colleagues
- Desire to grow as a practitioner through reading, collaboration, and professional development opportunities
- Bachelors in early childhood or elementary education, master's degree preferred
- Preferred: minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching Senior Kindergarten
