Responsibilities Include

• Teaching: Maintain a safe, pupil-centred learning environment. Guide whole class, small group, and individualised instruction in Middle School English/Language Arts and Social Studies. Regularly monitor and assess pupil learning and growth to inform instruction using a variety of tools and means.
• Curriculum Design: Plan a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that aligns with the school mission and grade-level learning goals. Craft thoughtful, engaging units of study designed to address the different learning styles of pupils in the class.
• Collaboration: Work with grade-level colleagues to connect English/Language Arts and Social Studies lessons to other subject curricula to foster cross-curricular learning. Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators and parents regarding pupil progress and any pupil issues.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend and contribute to regular faculty meetings.
• Collaboratively plan, organise and conduct relevant field trips.
• Supervise car-line, lunch and recess duty.
• Lead an Advisory group.
• Attend and assist with assemblies and special events, some of which occur outside of normal school hours.
• Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in English, Language Arts, and/or Social Studies, History
• Teaching credential or Master’s degree preferred
• Experience with middle school pupils preferred
