Cushing Academy seeks to hire an experienced teacher of English, Science (physics/biology/chemistry) or AP Economics/Department Chair of History and Social Sciences to begin August 15, 2023. Responsibilities include teaching four sections, assisting in athletics for two seasons, and serving as an advisor. Residential life duties are required, and housing is provided.
Successful candidates will have an exceptional ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with a diverse range of adolescents. Candidates should demonstrate an ongoing commitment to creating and supporting an inclusive educational environment, and a willingness to examine their own educational practices through an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in a related field (master's preferred) and at least 3-5 years of high school/college coaching experience and 3-5 years of teaching at the high school level. Familiarity with independent schools is necessary, and boarding school experience is particularly helpful.
