Beaver Country Day School—an independent day school located just outside of Boston, serving grades 6-12—seeks a creative, innovative, and forward-thinking Upper School Global History Assistant Teacher. This is a part-time, one-year position for the 2023-2024 school year that will report directly to the Head of the Global History Department and the Director of the Upper School.

About the Position:

Beaver Country Day School seeks an Upper School Global History Teaching Intern for a range of courses in grades 9-12, and other courses depending on the candidate's experience.

Competitive candidates will demonstrate the following skills and mindsets:

• Innovative curriculum design and pedagogical practices that focus on student-first, hands-on, experiential learning
• Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices and commitment to ongoing growth in this area
• Knowledge in differentiated instruction and assessment
• Content expertise in multiple historical areas
• Desire to learn and master different pedagogical frameworks
• Lead or support a 3-day immersive academic experience in collaboration with other faculty
• Willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom such as coaching and advising clubs 

Responsibilities:  

• Teach a reduced load of classes, either alone or in partnership with an experienced faculty member
• Actively participate in the work of the Global History + Social Studies Department including innovative curriculum development, project-based learning, and assessment
• Collaborate and plan with colleagues within course teams, the Global History department, and in other departments
• Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning
• Post resources, feedback, and assignments to the LMS in a timely manner
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents/guardians
• Provide frequent, constructive, objective, and prompt feedback to students
• Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community
• Actively participate in professional learning opportunities
• Participate in and support after school activities
• Seek and constructively use professional feedback
• Model organization and preparation to meet all professional responsibilities reliably
• Serve as a co-advisor to 7-9 students
• Help chaperone field trips or student travel
