Job Description and Desired Qualifications
The 7th Grade History and English teacher will oversee the delivery of the 7th grade History and 7th grade English curriculum and partner closely with the other Middle School History and English teachers to further develop and curate a comprehensive, effective, and cohesive 6th-8th grade curriculum. The teaching load consists of two sections of 7th grade English and two sections of 7th grade History.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with Middle School students and appreciate the opportunity to work with this age-group that is experiencing lots of transitions in three short years. They will also be a strong collaborator with other teachers and community members, have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiated instruction, and an interest in building a community.
As a teacher in the Middle School, this individual will also serve as an advisor, facilitate an enrichment activity, and participate in various student and community activities and professional development. Additional responsibilities include active involvement in collaborative teacher meetings, supervisory duties, and accompanying students on an annual outdoor education trip.
Schedule and Hours
This is a full time, exempt position and begins in August 2023.
Essential Requirements
B.A. in related field; Master’s degree preferred
Classroom teaching experience, especially at the middle school level
Natural rapport with children and strong classroom management skills
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
Culturally competent, responsive, and sensitive to diverse populations
Strong time management and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience with project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching
Experience teaching Teachers College Reading and Writing Project curriculum
A growth mindset and flexibility to adapt
Pay Scale
The anticipated salary range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the full-time position of 7th Grade English and History Teacher is $66,352 to $103,916, depending on factors such as experience and education.
