The School of Arts and Humanities is a unique academic school at UC San Diego. Established in 1963, it encompasses six academic departments, a wide range of interdisciplinary programs and research centers and nationally and internationally recognized faculty. We offer more than 100 undergraduate majors and graduate programs to explore the many facets of human experience. The Assistant Dean for Strategic Engagement oversees and coordinates the management of the School's strategic initiatives involving internal relations, external sponsor outreach, high school outreach (including the partnership with SD Unified School District's VAPA (Visual And Performing Arts) program), events and community outreach, and partnerships with local community colleges, including continuing efforts with the Preparing Accomplished Transfers in the Humanities (PATH) program. Serves as a member of the Dean's Senior leadership team and as the Staff Equity Advisor for the School. Works in partnership with the Dean and leadership team to spearhead strategic initiatives, establish metrics, drive strategic decision-making and ensure results.
Designs a comprehensive set of strategic approaches aimed at external and internal opportunities for Arts and Humanities academic departments, institutes, centers and various other programs. In collaboration with the Senior leadership team, formulates and implements the external sponsor and extramural programs' strategic direction and business plan. Develops and implements a comprehensive community engagement program for Arts and Humanities that includes staff engagement, faculty engagement, external sponsor engagement, and the promotion of the School's identity. Leads efforts to identify and address education needs in the marketplace (including critical training and educational issues) and implements innovative approaches and solutions that align with the school's needs and strategies.
