Job Description:
Ohio University Zanesville is seeking part-time instructors to teach a variety of in-person courses at the undergraduate level of sociology. The exact number of Instructors needed is undetermined at this time as it is primarily dependent upon enrollments and changing programmatic needs. When a need arises, the department will select qualified candidates from this pool.
Specific in-person need at the Zanesville campus includes SOC 1000, Introduction to Sociology. This course examines the nature of human society and factors affecting its development. Fundamental concepts of sociology: culture, personality, socialization, social organization, groups, and institutions.
Positions will include teaching from 3 credit hours to up to 11 credit hours per term.
This is a part-time position eligible for sick leave and retirement benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess at minimum a Master's degree in Sociology to teach 1000-2000 level courses.
Must possess a Ph.D. in Sociology to teach 3000-4000 level courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference is given to applicants with a Ph.D. and 3 or more years of teaching experience in Sociology.
Classroom teaching experience in higher education.
