Department: | Physics Department |
Anticipated Start Date: | Summer 2023 |
About the Position: | The Kestner Group in the Department of Physics at UMBC invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to carry out theoretical investigations of silicon spin qubits under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Kestner. The postdoctoral researcher will join a team of theoretical and experimental collaborators at UMBC, UCLA, the University of Rochester, Virginia Tech, and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Labs, funded by the LPS/ARO grant “Measuring, Modeling, and Mitigating Noise in Spin Qubits.”
The postdoctoral research associate will carry out theoretical calculations related to noise in quantum computing. Topics will include characterizing charge noise and designing new probes for mid-circuit recalibration of semiconductor quantum dot spin qubits. The research will be aimed at realizing the goals of the LPS/ARO grant. A PhD in Physics or a related field is required. Experience in quantum computing, semiconductor physics, or resonator physics is preferred. The position is open for immediate filling; however, the start date is flexible. The initial appointment is for one year with the expectation of an extension to a second year and the potential for further extension depending on performance and funding. UMBC and the Department of Physics are dedicated to creating an inclusive, collegial environment where all can achieve excellence. UMBC is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer. Interested candidates should upload a CV (including full publication list), brief cover letter, and the contact information of two references to the Interfolio website at https://apply.interfolio.com/126379. Application review will begin on June 12, 2023 and continue until the position is filled. |
