Assistant/Associate Professor, Business Analytics/Management Information Systems
The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Management in the College of Business seeks applicants for two (2) tenure-track positions as an Assistant/Associate Professor in the area of business analytics and information systems, starting in August 2024. Primary teaching responsibilities will be courses for the Business Analytics and Management Information Systems majors. Teaching assignments might include an introduction to information systems, programming, business analytics, business intelligence, database management, systems analysis and design, and other related topics and courses. Applicants who are seeking a balance in teaching/research responsibilities will find a collegial work environment and a faculty actively engaged and committed to the growth and continuous improvement of the Business Analytics and Management Information Systems programs.
The College of Business (http://business.uni.edu) is AACSB accredited and offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in five departments along with MBA and MAcc degrees. The College has 53 full-time faculty members and 52 staff and enrolls approximately 1,600 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students. The College is recognized as a "Best Business School" by The Princeton Review, listed among U.S. News & World Report's top part-time MBA programs, and as a Military Times Best for Vets: Business Schools. The College has a strong international presence, developing strategic alliances with several international business schools, and delivers its MBA program in Shanghai. The Business Analytics and Management Information Systems (MIS) majors are highly applied majors, preparing individuals to respond to data requests by developing, performing, and interpreting data analyses; providing and managing information systems for processing and retrieving internal business information; and selecting and implementing information systems applications. Graduates from these programs obtain well-paid positions as business analysts and system developers in major Fortune 500 companies, including insurance, banking, consulting, and manufacturing industries.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Analytics, MIS, or a related discipline, including Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABDs are welcome to apply with an expected degree completion date by August 2024.
Required qualifications include record of excellence in teaching with evidence of a student-focused approach; demonstrated ability to produce peer-reviewed publishable research that provides insights into issues critical for decision-makers; demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; and be enterprising and demonstrate effectiveness as a member of a collaborative team. Assistant-level applicants must demonstrate the potential for an excellent research record. Associate-level applicants must demonstrate evidence of scholarship appropriate for the rank.
Stand-alone teaching experience; evidence of experience with hands-on business analytics and/or information systems development; active participation in appropriate professional associations; applicants at the associate level will have demonstrable leadership skills in guiding the growth and development of academic programs and curriculum; and scholarly interest in the ethical use of technology preferred.
