Position Summary: The Department of Architecture is seeking applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing Fall 2024. Successful candidates for the position must have a strong commitment to teaching at all levels of the Master of Architecture, BFA in Architecture, and BFA in Interior Architecture degree programs and a record of professional practice and/or research in their area of specialization. Desired areas of specialization include architectural design, architectural theory, technology, sustainable design, interior architecture, and community-based design and development. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural academic goals of the Department, College, and University.
All Architecture faculty members support the design-centered curriculum by applying their expertise to innovative design studio and professional/technical course offerings. Successful candidates for this position are expected to teach design studios as well as professional/technical courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Opportunities are available to faculty including involvement with community partners that support economic and social development in the region, partnering with faculty from other academic units within the University, and working with the University of Memphis Design Collaborative and the Center for Sustainable Design, among others. Additional responsibilities include research and/or creative practice, general service activities, service on M.Arch Capstone committees, contributions to accreditation reports and exhibits, and other contributions to advance the mission of the Department.

The Master of Architecture degree is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board and the BFA in Interior Architecture degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. Minimum Position Qualifications: Required qualifications include a professional Master of Architecture degree (or a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree and a masters degree in a related field such as city planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or interior architecture/design), and relevant teaching experience in a NAAB-accredited architecture degree program. Desired qualifications include current registration as an architect in the USA or eligibility to achieve registration. Other desired qualifications include current NCIDQ certification or eligibility to achieve certification, relevant teaching experience in a CIDA-accredited Interior Architecture/Design degree program, significant professional/creative work in an urban environment, and service to the profession.
