The Department of Philosophy at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin August 1, 2024. One of the positions is open to candidates specializing in Epistemology or Philosophy of Science or Comparative Philosophy. The second position is open to all areas of specialization. With both positions we are seeking candidates whose research and teaching interests complement the strengths of the Bryn Mawr and Haverford College Philosophy Departments and do not duplicate our existing strengths. In addition to Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, and Comparative Philosophy, complementary areas include (but are not limited to): Kant, History of Modern Philosophy, European Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Philosophy of Religion.
Candidates for both positions must be prepared to contribute to our introductory sequence in the history of philosophy. Teaching competence in introductory logic is strongly desirable. The successful candidates will be expected to be part of developing and teaching a diverse and inclusive curriculum, including interdisciplinary programs and other college-wide initiatives such as the 360 Program and the first-year Emily Balch Seminars. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the start date.
To apply, candidates must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, research statement, statement of demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, and writing sample to the Department of Philosophy Search Committee via Interfolio at: http://apply.interfolio.com/128228. Applications received by November 1, 2023 will receive full consideration. In addition, candidates should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be submitted via Interfolio to the Department of Philosophy Search Committee.
