About the Position: | The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC; https://chemistry.umbc.edu/) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in introductory chemistry. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will include oversight of the Chemistry Discovery Center and instruction of multiple introductory chemistry discussion sections that accompany traditional lectures. This position offers the potential for pedagogical innovation in a collaborative team of experienced, pedagogy-driven faculty. Additional associated responsibilities include instruction, oversight of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, student assessment, and service on one or more departmental committees based on the candidate’s expertise and/or interest and departmental needs. We seek a candidate with a strong background in chemistry/biochemistry instruction and innovative teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Additionally, a strong candidate will exhibit a demonstrated commitment to UMBC’s values of diversity, equity, and access (https://facultydiversity.umbc.edu). A successful applicant should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field, with a minimum of an M.S. degree required.
