The Tutoring and Writing Center Coordinator coordinates and manages the daily operations, systems, and staff of the Tutoring and Writing Center within the Gladhill Learning Commons. This position is part of an academic support team working together to enhance students' academic success, persistence, and completion. This position must have the ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Assist the Director of Learning Center Services with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising tutoring staff.
2. Coordinate daily Tutoring and Writing Center operations including on campus, online, asynchronous paper review, and embedded tutoring, and provide Learning Commons and Welcome Desk supervision and support, including evenings and weekends, as deemed appropriate.
3. Tutor students on campus and online as well as through asynchronous paper review and embedded tutoring, individually or in small groups, in the disciplines of writing, reading, humanities, social sciences, and/or education.
4. Train tutors in and lead academic coaching sessions individualized to student's needs to support retention strategies.
5. Research, develop, and organize tutoring, study skills, and academic coaching training materials that support best practices and meet the needs of a diverse, multicultural academic environment.
6. Coordinate and maintain systems to track on-campus and online tutoring usage.
7. Assist students with study skills and information technology questions.
8. Assist the Director of Learning Center Services with data collection and analysis, budget management, and strategic planning.
9. Support the Director of Learning Center Services in assuring continuity and quality of tutoring programming, services, and staffing offered within the Gladhill Learning Commons and STEM Learning Center.
10. Develop workshops, events, resources, and professional development that enhance students' academic persistence, retention, and success.
11. Collaborate with campus student support services to connect underrepresented student populations to academic support services and support success strategies.
12. Create and update training materials, both the guidebook and the online training site, that encompasses all tutoring modalities.
13. Collaborate with Learning Commons staff to design and promote resources and services to students, faculty, and staff through various print and digital means.
14. Collaborate with IT, Gladhill Learning Commons' staff, and faculty to develop, maintain, and update the technologies and digital resources that support the learning process and encourage innovation.
15. Assist the Director of Learning Center Services with projects and duties supporting the mission and goals of the College, AACEWD, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: $64,382 - $70,000 annually
