Detailed Description
For the 2024-25 school year, the History Department at the University of San Diego announces a tenure-track position in African American History with an emphasis on Africana Studies, Gender Studies, or History of American Women at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach and publish in African American History. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory courses as well as upper?level courses in the area of specialization, and will include courses that fulfill the Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice requirement in our core learning outcomes. Candidates will be encouraged to offer courses in their area of specialization and participate in interdisciplinary programs, such as Africana Studies and/or Women's and Gender Studies. We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching, research, and mentoring will advance the interests of African Americans and communities of color. This position carries a 3-3 teaching load.

- Hold an advanced degree, preferably a doctorate or other terminal degree. ABD candidates will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Have demonstrated a commitment to teaching and research, mentoring undergraduates, and fostering a climate of inclusion and diversity.
