The Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership (EPOL) in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a full-time, Teaching Assistant Professor with an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2024. This is an in-person campus position. EPOL includes graduate concentrations in Diversity and Equity in Education, Educational Administration and Leadership, Higher Education, Human Resource Development, Global Studies in Education, Learning Design and Leadership, Philosophy of Education, History of Education, and Social Science and Educational Policy. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-track appointment, with the possibility of annual renewal. This individual will primarily teach for the Higher Education, Diversity & Equity, and Social Foundations in Education concentration programs within the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership (EPOL).
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in social foundations of education, history of education, higher education, educational policy studies, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of college teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
- Demonstrated expertise in online teaching and use of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Moodle, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous research and teaching experience in social foundations of education, higher education, diversity & equity, history of education. Experience in mentoring and advising undergraduate and/or graduate students. Strong record of scholarship, teaching, and service.
Position responsibilities include:
1. Design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses on-campus and online. Courses to include social foundations of education, diversity & equity, higher education, history of education.
2. Advise master's and doctoral students, including serving on doctoral examination committees.
3. Attend EPOL departmental and program meetings and contribute to service responsibilities of the concentrations and department.
4. Engage in research activities, broadly defined, related to higher education, diversity & equity, social foundations and allied areas of scholarship.
Salary: The salary is competitive.
Starting Date: Anticipated start date is August 16, 2024.
