Position Summary
Office for Teaching Innovation and Distance Education seeks an Instructor for UA Early College.
Detailed Position Information
Teaches 4 UAEC200 courses per term at 2 credit hours each, UAEC 200, is required for all UA Early College students. Adheres to the SACS accredited process for delivery, instruction, grading, and oversight of UAEC 200 course per University of Alabama academic standards. This position is a non-tenure earning, 3-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Continuation to the end of the three year contract is based on annual evaluation, departmental need and available funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a minimum of a master’s degree in English, education, instructional technology, communications, business, or related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1-year teaching experience. Requires excellent teaching and communications skills, ability to plan, develop, and administer academic course delivery. Requires flexibility to work day, night, weekends, and occasional travel from Tuscaloosa, AL.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer Ed.D. or Ph. D. degree in English, education, instructional technology, or related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year online teaching experience in Blackboard. Demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of high school-age students and educators.

About the Division/College/School
The UA Early College program, established in 2009, currently enrolls over 3,000 high school students from throughout the country. These students, on average, earn a cumulative UA GPA of a 3.5 or higher each semester. The UA Early College program offers over 50 different courses online and on-campus. The program staff and faculty have built and maintained relationships with educators across the state of Alabama and throughout the country.
UA Early College faculty, who primarily teach online, have excellent support for teaching, including computing equipment, office space, and opportunities for professional development and research.
