The Department of French and Italian at Princeton University seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in the field of French Medieval Studies starting in September 2024. Applications from candidates with expertise in French medieval literature and culture, as well as related fields such as French linguistics, art history, social or intellectual history, material culture, music, or gender studies are strongly encouraged. The successful candidate will have native or near-native French; clear evidence of scholarly excellence and of potential distinction in research and publication; and evidence of a deep and successful commitment to teaching. The department values diversity among both faculty and students, and encourages applicants who identify as underrepresented in French Studies and believe in the importance of attracting a diverse student body.
