Salary Details:
An independent school seeks a motivated, dynamic, and innovative full-time high school history and English teacher for the current school year (2023-24).
Essential Functions:
- Design and deliver at least two courses, and four sections, within a curriculum that includes English 9 and 10, Literature (AP), Language (AP), Writing & Rhetoric, World History I and II, United States History (AP), European History (AP), and thematic electives.
- Facilitate hands-on exploration and discovery, student collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Create meaningful partnerships with parents and families, including regular communications through school-supplied online tools, emails, and phone calls.
- Assess and provide feedback to students and parents during comment and grading periods.
- Assume duties including, but not limited to, serving as an advisor or co-advisor to a small group of students and taking on a fifth responsibility that benefits the student experience.
- Participate in professional collaboration and development, including committee work, chapel services, department meetings, and divisional faculty meetings.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in history, English, or related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years teaching required.
- Ability to apply historical habits of mind to myriad content areas.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a previous background in independent schools or similar college-preparatory programs.
- Proficiency in digital educational technologies.
- Experience with Google Workspace for Education (preferred)
- Enthusiasm for professional development.

About the School:
Moravian Academy, located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is a PK through 12th grade coeducational college preparatory school and the ninth oldest independent school in the United States.
