JOB SUMMARYThe Simmons University History program welcomes applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor in Modern History with a focus on gender to begin in the Spring 2024 semester (if possible) or by Fall 2024 at the latest.The position is open with regard to the geographic region of specialization, but we would welcome applicants who could teach courses in Modern U.S. History, Latin America and the Caribbean, or the Middle East/Islamic World. We seek applicants whose research and teaching trace the social and cultural construction of gender and the history of sexuality in the modern world.The successful candidate will complement what our department?s current faculty members offer in terms of region, chronology, or methodology. Particularly desirable areas of additional interest include:historical/collective memory,public humanities,African diaspora,world history,labor history,migration history,the history of science and medicine.
