California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for two tenure track faculty positions in the Department of Architecture. Cal Poly Pomona is one of two polytechnic universities in the 23-campus California State University system and among 11 such institutions nationwide. College
The mission of the College of Environmental Design (ENV) is to provide an outstanding academic
and professional learning experience within a multidisciplinary structure. Creative excellence,
environmental sustainability, and social responsibility have guided ENV's programs since it was
established in 1970. Our award-winning programs offer professional degrees at the undergraduate
and graduate levels in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning; at the
undergraduate level in Art History and Visual Communication Design; and at the graduate level in
Regenerative Studies. Faculty research, professional and creative activities are brought into the
classroom through the Teacher-Scholar Model. Support and recognition for faculty efforts
facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and promote their rich talent, expertise, and influence. We
seek opportunities for engagement with practice in California, nationally and internationally. We
are educating the future leaders of the design professions, and therefore have an obligation to

Department
The Department of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for two (2) tenure-track positions in Architecture at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2022. The Department of Architecture supports the University's teacher-scholar model, where faculty are expected to undertake intellectual, creative, and scholarly activities that contribute to both the faculty's teaching and their creative/scholarly interests. The teacher-scholar model provides a platform for faculty to integrate their teaching, service, and scholarship, within the creative context of the Southern California which has long encouraged experimentation as it continually reinvents itself. The Department also owes its diverse population and perspectives about the practice of architecture to the multicultural demographics of the region and its broad spectrum of creative opportunities. Experimental movements in architecture, along with the influences of high-tech, film, aerospace, and the region's real estate development economy, are manifest in the department curriculum. The Cal Poly Pomona Architecture program begins with a core foundation in design, followed by the technical training necessary for the practice of architecture. At the upper division, students explore electives, topic studios, and culminating projects that range from the theoretical to the practical. Many students focus on sustainability, preservation, urban design, healthcare, education, and hospitality design.
The Positions
Cal Poly Pomona's Department of Architecture (CPPARC) seeks two (2) candidates who strive for excellence in teaching, service, and research in a collegial working environment. The new faculty will be expected to teach architecture design studio, lectures, and seminars at the undergraduate and graduate level. Applicants will show evidence of excellence in teaching architectural design studio.
The new faculty members will also contribute service to the operational requirements of the department, college, and university. Faculty are also expected to engage in creative/scholarly activities as professional development that contributes to their teaching.

Minimum requirements:
- M.Arch; or BArch plus a Master or Ph.D. in a discipline-related field. The terminal degree (M.Arch, Master or Ph.D. in a discipline related field) must be earned by the start of the appointment.
- Experience teaching design studio and lecture courses or seminars at the university level.
- A Student Success Statement that demonstrates your commitment and record of contributions through applicant's teaching, scholarship, or service, by addressing at least two of the inclusive excellence criteria listed above. (Limit to 2 pages)
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will demonstrate a capacity in most of the following:
- Experience coordinating and developing foundational design content including fundamental skills, knowledge, and technologies that respond to the evolving roles of the profession, OR experience in comprehensive design, inclusive of building technologies, materials, building envelopes, structural systems, environmental controls, or sustainable practices and energy management.
- Experience in academic leadership roles such as coordination of students and faculty in a design studio.
- Working knowledge of current digital technologies used in architectural design studios.
- Evidence of design research through scholarly, creative activities or professional practice.
- Experience in student advising with curriculum guidance, student research or student club activities.
- Experience in university-level academic duties and service.

Finalists for the position will be required to:
- Provide three recent letters of reference (Dated within last 12 months) Recommenders will be sent a link to upload their letters.
- Provide an official copy of transcript showing highest degree earned
- Make a presentation to faculty and students of their research and teaching
