The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Instructor, Automotive Technology, De Anza College.
The Foothill - De Anza Community College District does not have a remote work policy. All employees are expected to be available to work in person and on-site per the requirement of the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
The principal responsibility of an Automotive Technology Instructor is to teach a variety of Automotive Technology courses in accordance with established course outlines. Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors are also expected to serve on district and college committees, participate in campus extra-curricular activities, maintain contact with business, industry, and professional organizations for the purpose of keeping instructional programs current with advances in occupational or academic field, participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills, and assess various learning outcomes.
Duties also include sharing institutional responsibilities, which are of value to the department, division, college and/or District including actively participating in the spirit of shared governance in department, division, college, and District institutional responsibilities. Such responsibilities may include recruitment and hiring, class schedule preparation, budget allocation, performance appraisals, mentorship, student recruitment and retention, curriculum and program development and evaluation, program review, club advising, committees, accreditation, articulation, and other duties as assigned.
In addition, instructors are expected to maintain a commitment and sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff, and uphold a commitment to integrating equity practices in the College's Instructional Programs. It is also expected that the successful candidate will possess knowledge of high impact student practices.
Automotive Technology faculty are also expected to share the duties of teaching during daytime, evenings, weekends, online, and off-campus and may be asked to teach in some of the following areas: Introductory automotive technology; engine theory, diagnosis, repair, and rebuilding; Chassis technology including brakes, ABS, steering, suspension, and alignment; powertrain technology; and electrical

Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extra-curricular activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree AND six years of professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in engine theory, diagnosis, and repair
- Experience in engine rebuilding and familiarity of machine tools is a plus
- Current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications
- Associate or higher degree in Automotive Technology
- Two years of field or technical experience in the automotive field
- Teaching or technical training experience in the automotive field
- Knowledge of regulations related to shop safety, hazardous material handling and disposal, and first response to fire and medical emergencies
- Commitment to continuously improve instructional quality to effectively teach a diverse student population with cultural sensitivity

HIRING RANGE: $71,934.90 - $133,543.60 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
