The Department of Educational Studies & Leadership at the State University of New York at New Paltz is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position of Social Justice Education Studies beginning in the fall of 2024. This faculty member will teach graduate students in our master's program in Social Justice Educational Studies (SJES) and in Educational Foundations. We seek an engaged teacher and scholar who works across disciplines in Cultural Studies, Black Studies, Indigenous Studies, Latinx Studies, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and/or Critical theory, as it relates to education both in and out of school in classroom spaces.

We are interested in someone committed to collaboration, creative approaches to research and teaching, and growth. Our program supports graduate students desiring new approaches to their practice, expanding professional trajectories, and developing as scholars. Our students work in human services, higher education, schools, and nonprofits. Many go on to leadership roles and we have a growing number interested in Ph.D. study at other universities. In addition to teaching (regular teaching load is three 3-credit courses a semester). advising, and maintaining a scholarly agenda, the successful candidate will participate in program development, review, and revision; and provide service to the school, university, and community. We are committed to expanding our ability to serve our students and are looking for expertise that assist in that process.
