Job Description Summary:
The Department of Theatre invites artist/educators for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre position to teach BFAs in Acting and Musical Theatre and BAs in Theatre, beginning August 15, 2024. Courses taught may include but are not limited to: script analysis, scene study, Theatre of the Global Majority, classical text, audition skills, and Professional Practices for the Performer. Faculty also coach, advise, and support students' transition into the professional world. Experience is valuable in other areas – such as voice and movement, acting for the camera, theatre history, dramaturgy, devising, and the ability to direct plays and musicals. Candidates with specialization in the following are urged to apply: Black Theatre, Asian Theatre, Latinx Theatre, LGBTQ+ Theatre and other multicultural/global perspectives. Successful candidates will have an understanding of current performance practices in contemporary and classical work, an enthusiastic commitment to teaching undergraduate students, and a positive collaborative approach to working with fellow artists. Candidates must demonstrate experience with diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA in Acting or Directing, or PhD in Theatre or comparable degree; professional production experience (Acting/Directing/Dramaturgy, etc.); university teaching experience or the ability to demonstrate potential teaching effectiveness.
