ADJUNCT POOL POSITIONS

The LACCD is accepting applications for Adjunct positions at our colleges for the 2023 - 2024 Academic School Years . The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants so that when there is an actual opening at a one of our colleges, the college can then begin their review process by reviewing those applicants that are currently in the Pool.

The LACCD is seeking dynamic, motivated and diverse candidates for part-time Disability Specialist positions to provide comprehensive academic advisement and counseling services to its students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to advising and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply.

During completion of the adjunct application, applicants will have the opportunity to indicate which of LACCD's colleges are of interest for employment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for this position must show evidence of the following qualifications:

1. Possession of a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, or
2. Possession of a master's degree in special education with 24 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, or social work; OR
3. A master's degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare AND either 12 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically in counseling or rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, OR two years of full-time experience in one or more of the following:

a. Counseling or guidance for students with disabilities; or

b. Counseling and/or guidance for persons with disabilities in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities. OR

4. Possession of a master's degree in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; and 15 or more semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability, to include, but not be limited to: Learning Disabilities; Developmental Disabilities; Deaf and Hearing Impaired; Physical Disabilities; or Adapted Computer Technology.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to position start date.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and experience working with adults who have disabilities, such as acquired brain injury, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, mobility impairments, psychological disability, development delay, speech and language disabilities, and visual impairments.
• Experience determining eligibility for DSPS through direct evaluation, by observation, or from careful review of documentation presented, as well as training in the proper use of various assessment techniques.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply DSPS policies and procedures, Title 5 and California Education Code Regulations, and federal and state laws related to access issues in a community college setting.
• Strong knowledge of adaptive technologies that facilitate access to electronic information and educational programs for students with various disabilities, and of assistive technology applications to assist in accommodating disability-related educational limitations.

DUTIES (Including but not limited to)

• Evaluate functional limitations, skills and abilities of students in order to design and implement appropriate disability-related accommodations, and recommend the use of appropriate assistive technology hardware and software.
• Instruct small groups of students in the use of assistive and instructional computer technology.
• Recruit, hire, and schedule sign language interpreters for deaf and hard of hearing students. Evaluate deaf and hard of hearing students for the use of appropriate assistive technology.

COMPENSATION

The salary schedule for adjunct counselors begins at $77.20 per standard assignment hour. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
