St. Catherine University is searching for its next Dean of the School of Nursing (SoN) to provide vision for what is next in nursing education and lead an outstanding faculty deeply committed to the mission of the institution.
The SoN houses a wide array of degree programs at the doctoral, masters, baccalaureate and certificate levels from CNA to DNP. The Dean functions as the chief leader and strategic planner for the SoN, with primary responsibility for all academic programs in Nursing. To foster the success of our academic programs and our students, the Dean will ensure the quality of our programs, strengthen and expand partnerships in the healthcare community, mentor and support faculty and staff, ensure an outstanding student experience, and effectively manage the overall budget of the School of Nursing to achieve the best outcomes for our students.
To foster the success of our academic programs and our students, the Dean will strengthen and expand partnerships in the healthcare community, mentor and support faculty and staff, ensure an outstanding student experience, maintain innovative and effective curricula, and successfully manage the overall budget and resources of the School of Nursing to achieve the best outcomes for our students. The SoN is supported by a leadership team of Assistant Deans that provide leadership and management in the three key areas in the School - pre-licensure nursing, clinical graduate, and online nursing programming. The Dean works closely with SoN program directors and coordinators to manage the course schedule and program budgets, participates in faculty evaluation and development, and plays a key role in hiring, retaining, and evaluating a strong and diverse faculty. The Dean will ensure that the SoN programs maintain national accreditation, and state approval.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in nursing and a terminal degree in nursing or an appropriate field, both from accredited institutions;
- Strong record of distinguished academic achievement in scholarship, teaching, and service with evidence of professional distinction and recognition in their field that warrants appointment to at least the level of Associate Professor; and
- Record of progressive administrative executive management or organizational administrative leadership demonstrating outstanding academic leadership at increasing levels of responsibility.
- Unencumbered registered nurse license in any state and eligible for licensure in Minnesota. Minnesota licensure must be current before start date.
- Demonstrated success as a strategic and creative planner and an outstanding collaborator and relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills;
- Proven experience as a successful administrator with responsibility for guiding strategy, evaluating personnel, motivating faculty and staff, acquiring and allocating resources, engaging external constituencies, and fostering diversity and teamwork to create collaborative relationships across culturally diverse groups;
- Strong record of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum and in creating a welcoming and inclusive climate that values diversity and equity in student learning;
- Experience with program-specific accreditation across areas in nursing;
- Demonstrated success in fund development, external fundraising, and financial management;
- Understanding of education in the context of a Catholic university committed to women-centered education;
- Ability to work collaboratively with chairs and program directors, academic deans, faculty leadership, mission chairs, and senior administrators;
- Understanding and sensitivity to current and future student demographics and an ability to meet their specific needs;
- Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary landscape of higher education and an understanding of societal forces and influences affecting the liberal arts;
- Strong quantitative skills, including use of data to inform decision-making, financial acumen, and demonstrable experience working within a balanced budget;
- Knowledge of technology for teaching and learning in general and currency with online learning in particular;
- Entrepreneurialism in generating resources and using them in innovative and strategic ways;
- Ability to establish relationships and alliances with external partners, especially clinical partners, to support enhanced connections in the cities and region, and create pipelines for our students in clinical placements and career opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years administrative leadership experience
- A history of building, enhancing, and sustaining partnerships across a university, local communities, region, and beyond
- A strong record of distinguished academic achievement in research, teaching, and service with evidence of professional distinction and recognition in their field that warrants appointment at the level of Full Professor
