The Department of Psychology seeks applicants for an open-rank tenure-track professor position in the areas of Psychology and Law broadly construed, which is expected to begin July 1, 2024. This position extends a major building program in the Department that has resulted in several significant hires in the past several years.
The Department has strong programs in four core areas: (1) Cognition, (2) Neuroscience, (3) Developmental Psychology, and (4) Social and Personality. Individuals who integrate two or more of these areas are of particular interest. The program in Psychology and Law emphasizes basic science and theory. The Department also maintains significant research bridges with the Cornell Law School, and its graduate program offers a joint PhD/JD degree through the Department of Psychology. Other relevant resources include the Moral Psychology Program in the Department and interdisciplinary centers and institutes, such as the Center for Behavioral Economics and Decision Research, that draw on multiple departments.
Responsibilities include teaching three courses per year (typically two undergraduate and one graduate), supervising student research, and maintaining a rigorous, highly productive program of empirical research that maintains and builds the department's national and international scholarly reputation.
Qualifications
- PhD
- Demonstrated research excellence in areas including, but not limited to, Psychology and Law (broadly construed).
- Interest or experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Research excellence demonstrated by a strong record of publication in recognized journals.
