The Economics and Business Department at Ohio Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Accounting starting in August 2024.
This position will teach accounting courses, lead the Accounting major, and help support growth of the Accounting, Business Administration, and Finance majors and minors, and an interdisciplinary minor in Entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will also play a key role in recruiting prospective students and enhancing existing campus programming through the Woltemade Center and the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center, in particular the Accounting and Finance Fellows program.
This job is part of a cohort of positions with which Ohio Wesleyan seeks to further diversify its curriculum and faculty. Responsibilities:

A six-course annual teaching load (3/3) in financial and/or managerial accounting at the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels, potentially including principles of financial accounting, taxation, auditing, accounting systems and related topics reflecting both the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the department and program.

Advising students in their academic journey

Engaging in a consistent and focused line of professional development

Providing service to the department, university, and profession

Assisting in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation
Qualifications:
-
Master’s Degree or terminal degree either in Accounting or an accounting specialty area or Business Administration with a minimum of 18 semester graduate hours in accounting

Professional certification in accounting (CPA, CIA, CMA or CFE)

Verifiable professional accounting experience

Potential for teaching excellence

Preference for experience teaching at the undergraduate level

Ability to create an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates difference within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds
Successful candidates are expected to pursue excellence in teaching, maintain a productive, ongoing professional development program, and contribute actively to the continued growth of the department and the university. Business faculty at Ohio Wesleyan operate under a formal Memorandum of Agreement which allows both relevant consultative work as well as research to be counted toward professional development requirements.
