The Department of Political Science at Swarthmore College invites applications for a 1.5 year (three semester) position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in International Relations. The position will begin in January 2024 and continue through the 2024-2025 academic year (encompassing the spring semester of 2024, the fall semester of 2024, and the spring semester of 2025). The area of specialization within International Relations is open. Candidates will be expected to teach "Introduction to International Relations" as well as upper level courses in International Relations.
The Department of Political Science provides students with a rigorous education that spans all four traditional subfields of the discipline. The Department consists of nine tenure-line faculty members and four visiting faculty members (including this position). Visiting faculty teach the same 2-2 course load as tenure-track faculty, are provided mentoring and professional development opportunities, and are eligible for funds to support research and conference travel. The salary is highly competitive.
