General:
- ESOL Instructors shall be responsible for providing effective and high-quality instruction for English language learners from the beginners to pre-advance levels;
- Helping students master language proficiencies in oral and written , comprehension, reading, speaking and academic writing;
- Providing contextualized course content;
- Assessing student learning outcomes;
- Continuing professional development;
- Utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties;
- Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics;
- Assisting with curriculum development and program review.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Experience teaching English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) courses.
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching methods to engage all students.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A strong commitment to working with diverse student populations.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree or higher in TESOL or a related field
- Experience teaching ESOL courses at the postsecondary level
- Experience teaching at a community college
- Content knowledge in the healthcare or math fields
- Curriculum development experience
- Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests.
- Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses.
- Familiarity with and ability to operate or oversee the operation of audio-visual equipment, including sound systems, video, and computer controlled mixed media presentations.
- Ability to use the Microsoft platform desktop computer and various software including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Additional Information:
Application Deadline: Applicants accepted on a rolling basis, as needed.
Expected Start Date: November 2023 (possibility for on-call substitute November 1,2023)
Available to teach morning classes (9 AM - 12 PM), and/or evening classes (6 PM -9 PM)
Hourly rate: $ 40 per hour
