The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for appointment to a 9-month tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2024. Salary and terms of appointment are commensurate with prior experience. A successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and service/leadership. They also should have a demonstrated potential for engaging in high-quality research/scholarship.
UAB's new School Psychology program prepares professionals in a scientist-practitioner model. It is housed in the collaborative School of Education, which also has programs in teacher education (including special education), counseling, educational leadership and administration, human sciences, and more. Our faculty members strongly commit to scholarship, research, creative pursuits, community engagement, and service.
Duties The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities, including research publications, external funding, and professional presentations; teach graduate courses (e.g., intellectual assessment, consultation, interventions, special education, etc.); supervise field experiences aligned with the Program's scientist-practitioner, intervention-oriented approach to practice; conducting scholarly research and publishing; advising graduate students; and guiding graduate research; and collaborating with area schools/agencies. Additional responsibilities include serving on program, department, college, and university committees and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements for Consideration
Earned Doctorate in School Psychology from a NASP-approved accredited program.
Record of research in school psychology.
Experience teaching at least one school psychology or Special Education graduate course, including as a teaching assistant.
Demonstrated commitment to social justice and understanding social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of university students
