Position overview
Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See the following table for the salary scale for this position https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2023-24/july-2023-acad-salary-scales/t15.pdf. A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259 - $76,814.
Percent time: Positions range from 33% to 100% each semester. Summer positions are 11%.
Anticipated start: Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester (in mid-January for Spring Semester; in mid-August for Fall Semester). Summer appointments begin in late May and run into early August.
Review timeline: Typically, appointments for summer and Fall semester are reviewed in February/March, and appointments for Spring semester in October/November. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.
Position duration: Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis. Appointments may be renewable based on the department's need, funding, and performance.

Position description
The Department of German at UC Berkeley seeks applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach Yiddish courses in any of the possible areas:
In addition to instruction, general duties include holding office hours, developing syllabi and assignments, writing and grading exams, and grading and commenting on papers. Other duties may be assigned by the Chair as necessary.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Completed master's degree (or equivalent international degree).
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by start date of the position. The Department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.
