Job Purposes::
The Department of Social Work offers a MA degree accredited by the Council of Social Work Education. The WSU MASW program consists of two tracks: Advanced Standing Track and Traditional track. Within the tracks, students select a concentration focus in Family and Children or Older Adults. This position will be responsible for teaching 12 semester hours (4 courses) in Social Work over a two-semester academic year as well as serving as the Master of Arts in Social Work (MASW) program director. The appointment would begin the Spring 2024 semester and is renewable.
The Master of Arts in Social Work (MASW) program director will significantly impact the success and growth of the program through the following efforts:
· Program Leadership and Oversight: The director plays a central role in providing leadership and oversight for the entire MASW program. They are responsible for shaping the program's vision, mission, and goals, ensuring its alignment with the institution's objectives.
The Master of Arts in Social Work (MASW) program director will significantly impact the success and growth of the program through the following efforts:
· Program Leadership and Oversight: The director plays a central role in providing leadership and oversight for the entire MASW program. They are responsible for shaping the program's vision, mission, and goals, ensuring its alignment with the institution's objectives.
· Curriculum Development and Management: The director is instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing the curriculum for the MASW program. They work to keep the curriculum current, relevant, and in line with best practices and emerging trends in the field of social work.
· Accreditation Compliance: Accreditation from bodies like the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is essential for MASW programs. A director is crucial for ensuring that the program maintains compliance with accreditation standards, including faculty qualifications, program outcomes, and continuous improvement.
· Student Success and Support: The director is responsible for creating an environment that supports student success. This includes overseeing student services, providing academic and career advising, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Required Qualifications::
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
- Current Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
- Two (2) years post-MSW social work experience
- Valid Drivers' License
Preferred Qualifications::
- Experience teaching in Social Work
- Current Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
- Knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching social work curriculum
- Three (3) or more years post-MSW social work experience
- Experience with online teaching technologies
Essential Functions and percent of time::
40% – Teach 12 semester hours in the graduate Social Work curriculum and School Counseling Curriculum (reflects 50% course reduction for serving as MASW Program Director)
50% – Serve as MASW Program Director
10% – Graduate student advising
50% – Serve as MASW Program Director
10% – Graduate student advising
Working Conditions::
