Description of Work:
Nebraska Extension brings University of Nebraska expertise and research in 8 key areas of impact directly to Nebraskans from all walks of life in each of the state's 93 counties. Nebraskans turn to Nebraska Extension to strengthen their families, inspire their communities, empower young people, conserve and protect natural resources and advance their farms, ranches and businesses.
As a Horticulture Extension Assistant, you will:
- Transform lives by teaching (planning and implementing) and evaluating approved educational programming in Extension Horticulture and horticultural best practices for audiences in assigned area.
- Access learner at appropriate places and times.
- Travel within service area.
This position is located in Omaha, NE and serves Douglas County.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be completed by start date.
- Demonstrated ability to teach.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agriculture, education, communications/marketing, environmental studies, or related field.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience managing or coordinating volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and data management software preferred.
- Proven history of organizing groups of people and educational projects.
- Social media skills.
- Experience with program implementation and evaluation.
- Ability to speak language(s) other than English, Spanish preferred.
