Job Description: As part of its newly established Institute for Quantum and Information Sciences, Syracuse University is soliciting applications for multiple faculty positions in the area of quantum science, broadly defined. Multiple positions are available in both theoretical and experimental research fields. Appointments will be made in either the department of Physics or the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as appropriate. The majority of the appointments are expected to be at the assistant professor level, but appointments at the associate or full professor level may be made for exceptional applicants. This includes, but is not limited to, research in holography, gravity and field theory, condensed matter physics, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum algorithms and simulations.Areas of interest for experimental applicants include all fields of research related to quantum and information science, broadly defined. This includes, but is not limited to, research in superconducting device physics, integrated photonics, quantum sensing and networking, and precision science.The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to lead an outstanding independent research program, to teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and a commitment to active participation in the departmental and university communities. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.
