The Department of Political Science & Public Policy in Elon College, the College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in American politics and political behavior. The position will begin mid-August 2025, and requires the candidate to:
Hold a PhD in Political Science, Public Policy, or closely-related field by the position start date
Have a main focus of scholarly expertise in political behavior in the United States context (which may include associated areas such as public opinion, campaigns and elections, voting and participation, parties and interest groups, social movements, political identity, and so forth)
Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts context
Demonstrate a significant and sustained research agenda in U.S.-based political behavior
Exhibit interest and ability to mentor undergraduate research
Responsibilities include teaching introductory and upper-level courses in American Politics, an introductory research methods course (broadly conceived), as well as courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Additional responsibilities include student mentorship through advising and collaborative undergraduate research, and contributions to the life of the department, university, and discipline or profession. The course load for this position will be 6 classes per year.To support Elon's teacher-scholar-mentor model, we offer an attractive package of research support that includes a pre-tenure sabbatical, course reassignment times, a summer research grant, and funds for conference travel.
