The Department of History at Brown University invites applicants for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate in West, Central, or East Africa, beginning July 1, 2025. We are open to applications from scholars working on any time period and any thematic specialization. The successful applicant will teach one undergraduate course each year.
Review of applications will begin February 15, 2025. To assure full consideration applicants should submit their materials by that date.
Scholars with a PhD in history or a related discipline within the humanities or social sciences will be considered. Ph.D. must be in hand by July 1, 2025 or must have been awarded in the last five years. Recipients of a Ph.D. from Brown University are ineligible. Scholars from outside the United States are appointed under J-1 visas (exchange visitors status) only. This two-year postdoctoral research associate position is not renewable.
