Compensation/Benefits:
Redwood Day offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. The anticipated pay range the school reasonably expects to pay candidates for the Lower School Teacher is $74,076.08 to $112,972 annually, depending on factors such as experience and education.

Job Description:
The 1st Grade Lead Teacher is a dynamic educator with experience planning curriculum. This teacher will work closely with their grade-level partner and implement curricular components as defined by the grade-level teaching team, including ELA, math, and social studies. (Students also attend P.E., Music, Art, Spanish/Mandarin, Library, Science, Cooking/Gardening, and DBi Lab classes away from the classroom.) The ideal candidate is committed to academic excellence, diversity, equity and inclusion, and deeply understands the social and emotional growth and development of children. This individual will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, an ability to differentiate instruction across content areas, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building community in and outside of the classroom.
Primary Duties:
Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for 1st Grade
Creates curricula that are aligned with standards and implements appropriate assessments that drive instruction
Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration and choice
Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and classroom management techniques
Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction
Provides consistent, immediate feedback to student learning
Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports school-wide behavioral expectations
Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences
Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members by communicating tactfully, courteously, and confidentially
Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees
Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth
Maintains a school-appropriate appearance and demonstrates conscientious and responsible behavior
Engages parents and guardians in the education of their children and related next steps for student progress

Fulfills other duties as assigned from time to time
This is a full-time position, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays), Monday - Friday, beginning August 2025.
